Index. Quaderni camerti di studi romanistici. International Survey of Roman Law
is a journal about Roman Law. It was developed by
prof. Luigi Labruna in 1970, it is published every year with the support of Law-Faculty of Camerino University and it is the work organ of the "Gruppo di ricerca sulla diffusione del diritto romano"; President: prof. Gérard Boulvert International Prize. |
The journal Index and the "Consorzio interuniversitario Gérard Boulvert per lo studio della civiltà giuridica europea e per la storia dei suoi ordinamenti", accept the invitation formulated by Institutes and scholars from Italy and abroad and has great pleasure in announcing, with the support of Istituto Banco di Napoli, a competition to award "The Gérard Boulvert VI International Prize in Roman Law". The initiative which "Index" proposes to repeat periodically aims to encourage the development of research in the field of Roman law and to commend, in the name of Gérard Boulvert, the works of young scholars of every nationality published in the last three years.
1. The competition is hereby announced for the award of "The Gérard Boulvert International Prize in Roman Law" for a "first work", of a monography nature, in the disciplines of Roman law.
2. The prize money is indivisible and amounts to Lire 23.000.000 (twenty-three million). The winner will also be awarded the gold medal of the University of Naples "Federico II". In addition 5.000 (five thousand) French Francs and 5.000.000 (five million) Lire and lire 3.000.000 (three million) have been made available by the Institut de Droit Romain of Paris II University and by the Centro Romanistico Internazionale "Copanello", respectively. It has been irrevocably decided by the Panel that these funds will either supplement the "Boulvert" prize or permit the awarding of "special prizes". Further prizes will be assigned by the Corte Costituzionale of the Italian Republic, by the University of Camerino, by the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and by the University of Franche-Comté (Besançon).
3. The competition is open to scholars who have published or written in definitive form their first work in the last three years 2001-2002-2003. The work should be of a monography nature, on matters relating to the history of Roman law and ancient laws.
4. Applications for entry to the competition, accompanied by a copy of the work, should reach the Prize Organizers c/o the editorial office of the journal
Index via Chiaja 149/A, I- 80121 Napoli, no later 15th January 2004 The Prize Organizers should also receive, ander separate cover, four additional copies of the work by the above deadline. Works written in languages other than Italian, French, German, English, Spanish and Latin should be accompanied by a detailed summary (30-50 pages) written in one of these languages.5. The prizes will be awarded in order of merit estabilished irrevocably after due consideration by the Panel of judges.
6. The Panel consists of the Director of Index, Professor Luigi Labruna, of the University of Naples "Federico II" and of Professors Hans Hankum, University of Amsterdam, Luigi Capogrossi Colognesi, University of Rome "La Sapienza", Alessandro Corbino, president of the Centro Romanistico Internationale "Copanello", Michel Humbert, University of Paris II, Rudolf Knütel, University of Bonn, Pierre Lévêque, University of Franche-Comté (Besançon), Joan Miquel, University of Barcelona "Pompeu Fabra", Peter Stein, Queens' College Cambridge, Gunter Wesener, University of Graz.
